Merry Christmas Everybody!

Hi guys did you miss me?? I missed all of you lots!

I’ve missed having my picture taken too which is why I’m super excited to show you my Christmas pictures this year. I get to model and be on cards that my mom sends out to our friends and family every Christmas. It’s our tradition!

This year my mom bought me a little cap to wear. I trusted my mom enough to put the silly thing on my head but I was kind of distracted by it and it messed with my modeling skills a little. Also I have to be honest. I really wanted to go outside and play.

She had made a little area for me to sit in front of but she could tell I didn’t really want to and she wanted me to be happy more than she wanted me to sit there. So she asked my friend Moosey Moose to wear the hat and sit there just to make herself giggle.

Here’s Moosey Moose being super cooperative.

20131215_Sol Christmas Card_57

She laughed at me because I got a little jealous about Moosey Moose getting all the attention and suddenly I wanted to sit there too. Just not with the silly hat on. Haha!

20131215_Sol Christmas Card_58

I also practiced what my mom calls my irresistible face to see if I could get my way about going outside to play. I am a model after all so I need to have different “looks” right?

This is one of my best tries at irresistible. What do you think?

Holiday Torture Take Two

You know what? It worked! My mom’s a super softy.

She likes it when our pictures make people smile and she likes it when I’m happy so I didn’t have to ask for very long. Plus there was snow and mom says snow is a bonus for Christmas pictures!

WOOHOO!! Outside! With my friend Moosey Moose!

20131215_Sol Christmas Card_89 copy

He tried to get away but I pounced really high and really fast and caught up. Rawr!

20131215_Sol Christmas Card_90

After Moosey Moose and I ran and played for a while mom and dad asked me to pose nicely for a minute. I like to make my parents happy so I was happy to sit still. (Plus there were yummy snacks!)

20131215_Sol Christmas Card_82a

After snacks and my sitting still I got to go play again. (The best!) You might remember I really like sticks. I found a great one to attack! And Moosey helped!

I hope you all get to play with good friends and eat yummy snacks for Christmas too! Merry Christmas!

Ellieeee!!!

Do you ever just know something good is on its way? All day long I knew there would be something and I wanted to know what it would be! Then in the afternoon my mom finally said the magic word. “Ellie!” I got so excited! I’m glad she didn’t tell me earlier or I’d have had to be patient for longer. Instead Ellie showed up almost right after mom said her name and I got to keep all my excited energy for play time!

I ran right outside to say hi and run in circles with her. She found a good stick almost right away and started a game of keepaway.

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_002I tried really hard to get my mouth on it too so we could change the game to tug. At least half the fun is in trying!

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_005

Finally she settled down to chew for a while so I got to chew with her. She’s really great about sharing sticks and toys. I’m sure it’s part of why we get along so well.

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_003

When we got up to run and play some more we got a little too rowdy near this little blue jay so he flew away up into his tree.

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_006

I wonder what things look like from up there?

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_007

Isn’t she pretty? I think I have one of the most beautiful best friends in the whole world.

Elliehr

One of my favorite things about getting play time with Ellie is zooming. Sometimes we zoom together but even when she’s resting I’ll keep zooming because I’m so happy to see her!

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_011

Our teeth might look a little scary but please don’t think we’re mad at each other. I promise we’re not. This is one of our favorite games!

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_017

I think Ellie looks like a bear in this next one. Haha! Silly Ellie pretending to be a bear…

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_020

I started to get tired so my zooming was slower but I wasn’t quite done yet.

20130423_Sol Ellie Playdate_026

Then finally we were ready to rest and enjoy the pretty night while our parents talked and laughed about us. One of our favorite things to listen to.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have something good coming your way soon too!

Weekend at the Beach

Hi Everybody! I have so much to tell you about today because I’m on an adventure!

I’m here with my parents at my Grammy’s beach house in Rehoboth Beach. It’s one of my favorite places I ever get to go! I don’t really know what it is I like the most about coming here. I think lots of things make it special. One of them is that my parents are always really happy here and they laugh a lot.

Also there are a lot of great napping and lounging places. My Grammy bought this little cushion-y place right by the window just for “people” like me – the furry kind. It’s one of my very favorites.

20130413_Rehoboth_004For lounging AND sleeping!

20130413_Rehoboth_001There is also a lot of good sunshine here. I like to follow it around to nap and lounge on the floor.

20130413_Rehoboth_022Sometimes, though, lounging on top of my mom is the best. I snuggle so close she can’t take a picture of my whole face at one time. I like it because I’m close enough to get lots of kisses on my face. I love kisses on my face!

20130413_Rehoboth_028But just like at home I only like to lounge and nap for part of the day. My dad is hiding from mom’s camera so you can’t quite see but I’m heading over to his couch to ask if we can go do something outside. He says I ask my mom for snuggles and him for everything else. I don’t know if it’s true or not I just know that I think whoever put the couches this way did a really good job!

20130413_Rehoboth_011The best part is that it worked! I got to go outside where the sun was shining. Grammy’s cherry tree was completely covered in pretty flowers.

20130414_Rehoboth_049We didn’t stay out in the yard long though because even though it was really pretty we all decided we wanted to go see the ocean!

Mom and dad rolled down my window so I could smell the air on the way.

20130414_Rehoboth_094

But then I realized mom’s window was open even wider and that was way better!

20130414_Rehoboth_067 I didn’t know there were deer at the beach – did you? We have deer at our house and they’re some of my favorites! I didn’t get to run after this one though. They’re the most fun when you get to run after them.

20130414_Rehoboth_097I don’t know whose idea this was but whoa.

20130414_Rehoboth_126I started to get sad but then I realized we were going a different direction and I was still going to get to see the beach!

20130414_Rehoboth_128YAY!! Isn’t it pretty? Do you have any idea how many cool smells there are here?

20130414_Rehoboth_101I’m lucky because I’ve been to this beach with my best friend Ellie before. It’s not quite as much fun without her there because everything is more fun with your best friend but it was still really great!

20130414_Rehoboth_107 20130414_Rehoboth_110I like to watch the waves and the birds.

20130414_Rehoboth_117I also got to help my parents search for sea glass! I think it’s pretty but I’m not really sure I understand what the big fuss is about. They were really excited to find these pieces though so I’m happy for them! Mom especially liked the one in the middle that dad found.

20130414_Rehoboth_133 I think my favorite part though was getting to see the horses! At first I thought maybe they were giant dogs that I could go play with but I’ve never seen people getting carried by dogs before. Then I remembered I’ve met horses at Grammy and Grampa Will’s before. They were exciting to watch! So exciting I kept watching until I couldn’t see them anymore.

20130414_Rehoboth_121 Mom and dad say tonight we’ll go back home to our little woods. For now though we’re having a mostly lounging and snuggling and movie-watching day because the clouds are out and it got kind of cold again. Days like this are special at the beach too so no one’s sad about it. I know we’ll see the sun again soon!

Planting Pansies

Hi Guys how are you?!

Is Spring here yet? I think it must be visiting soon! The reason I think it must be almost here is because my Grammy and my Grampa-Will came over to help start a garden at our new house and I got to help!

20130323_Planting Pansies_001

I love it when it’s warm and bright and colorful outside. My mom used to have a lot of flowers at our old house and I heard her say she really wanted to have some here too. She said she and dad are going to plant food plants, too. I like food a lot, so that’s exciting! I wonder if mom will mind if I test the food when it grows big enough?

My mom and grammy went to a flower store called a nursery. I guess there wasn’t room in the car or something because I didn’t get to go with them for that part. I cheered up when they got home, though because I did get to spend lots and lots of time outside helping them put all the flowers in different kinds of pots and even right in the ground!

 20130323_Planting Pansies_003

It’s still cold here, so most flowers can’t be planted outside yet. Mom says Pansies are named wrong because people think pansies are weak but they’re really very strong. They don’t even mind the cold like some flowers do.

20130323_Planting Pansies_005

I think it’s kind of funny that my mom and grammy wear gloves on their hands when they dig in the dirt. I dig best without any gloves on.

20130323_Planting Pansies_008Look at all that dirt that could be right between their toes and fingers but it’s just wasted there on gloves! Silly ladies. I’ll have to try to demonstrate how it works for them again next time. Maybe they’ll catch on.

20130323_Planting Pansies_009 My gram-parents are two of my favorite people. I’m always so happy to see them that I sing and howl at first. Then I just follow them around and help out however I can because helping is fun!

20130323_Planting Pansies_014

20130323_Planting Pansies_021

20130323_Planting Pansies_016Grampa Will helped a lot by digging up dirt to make room for flowers to go in the ground.

20130323_Planting Pansies_012

20130323_Planting Pansies_019

It’ll be warm enough to plant all kinds of flowers soon but I love the pansies enough to take me through all of spring if they have to!

Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Trash

Hi Guys!

I learned something new today! I already told you some things about walking about in our little woods. Sometimes though we go out on the road.  We did that today and I like it because I see and smell different kinds of things than I smell in the woods. We live out where the houses are really far apart and there are lots of trees and grass and our road is made of dirt and rocks.

My parents brought a big white bag to pick things up on the road to bring home. It was all really colorful stuff that smelled like things I wanted to eat so I thought maybe it was for fun but they seemed a little sad and said it was something called “Trash” and it didn’t belong there. I was surprised it wasn’t supposed to be there because there sure was a lot of it! I think they were right though because the road was even prettier after we picked it all up. I’m still trying to figure out why people put it there to start with.

Can you believe we found all this?!

bl20130319_trashwalk_11It felt good to get to help fix something that was wrong and I hope we’ll do more of that someday soon!

Thanks for coming to see me!

Baby Ella Was Here!

Hi guys!

I don’t know if you know this or not, but I have kind of a baby godsister. She’s my parents’ goddaughter, so I guess that’s what that makes her. Her name is Ella and she turned 3 months old the other day! She’s the first baby I’ve ever met so I’m still getting used to her. I don’t know if you know but babies make lots of funny noises to get used to but it’s okay because they smell really interesting!

The first time I met her was a few weeks ago when her mom brought her over and she and my mom sat and talked and talked a lot. I wanted to investigate super closely and smell her all over but I had to use a lot of something my mom calls “restraint” so I was really really tired at the end of it all!

Here I’ll show you. Like this.

20130206_visit_016blog

Well, today she came back! Because she turned 3 months old, her parents decided it was time for my parents to take more pictures of her and they wanted to do them at our house this time. I think it’s funny that my parents get really gooey when they see her.

Because I was so good the last time, everybody was more relaxed this time and I got to smell her a lot and even lick her some! That was all I really wanted last time, too, but I have big teeth compared to Ella and I get enthusiastic so I think everyone just wanted to be really careful. I could have told them I’d be really nice to her but I haven’t learned how to make words yet.

Mom wanted me to tell you dad took this photo. She takes the other pictures on my dlog and she wants to be sure other people who give me pictures get credit for it.

Mom wanted me to tell you dad took this photo. She takes the other pictures on my dlog and she wants to be sure other people who give me pictures get credit for it.

I’m not sure but I think she might have even remembered me. I was so happy she wanted to see me too!

I don’t know if I should tell you this, but I guess I will so my other pictures make more sense. I don’t know how to say this nicely, but…she had an accident in her pants. Oh I’m so embarrassed for her. Even I know you’re supposed to do that outside! But I guess her parents knew she might do that because they brought all this stuff including new pants.

The very best part is that it meant they put her down on my level on the floor! Oh man..I could really get close then!

I kept my distance a little bit at first to make sure it was okay with everyone for me to go visit closer. See her looking at me? I think she likes me, too!

20130317_Ella 6 Months_154blog

Then I got a little bit braver. I’m so glad she didn’t start crying. I get so nervous when she cries. 20130317_Ella 6 Months_153blog Oh wow. It was so great to get to smell her whole face!

20130317_Ella 6 Months_370

I think this might have been my favorite part of the whole day, though. Her feet didn’t smell like big people feet but they still smelled really cool and I even got to lick them a little.

20130317_Ella 6 Months_159blogI had to leave her alone after that for a little while so she could go do her modelling. I know this is my dlog but I think she’s really cute so I guess she can have a picture here too…

20130317_Ella 6 Months_292blogAfter spending a little time with her today, I could really see why my parents like her so much and really hope she comes back for another visit soon!

Thanks everyone for visiting!

A Sunny Day Walkabout (One of My Very Favorite Things)

The sun came out to play today! That means I got to go outside and run and play and smell things!

It was so great to be outside that I just had to smell the air for a while first. It’s really fresh here in the woods. I like it better than anywhere else.

bl20130224_Walkabout_011

Don’t worry, I also smelled lots of other things. This time of year the leaves on the ground hold on to all kinds of good stuff.

bl20130224_Walkabout_017

(Remember what I said about touching things with your nose when you smell? If you can even dig your nose into them, that’s the very best way.)

I also like to climb up on the rocks to see what the world looks like from up there. This is a good one to look around from.

bl20130224_Walkabout_032But then it was time to go again. Because there’s lots more to see and smell!

bl20130224_Walkabout_038

This tree was super fun because I could fit all the way inside. From the way it smelled, I think I’m not the only one who went inside to play.

bl20130224_Walkabout_045 bl20130224_Walkabout_046

A lot of walking about is just about exploring stuff. Can you tell how much fun this is?? bl20130224_Walkabout_115 bl20130224_Walkabout_117bl20130224_Walkabout_091

I like to end my walkabouts with something called Zooming. I usually Zoom in loops that look like the number 8 all around the front yard. That way I make sure to use up any leftover energy I have before it’s time to go back inside.

bl20130224_Walkabout_120

Today it was warm enough out that we all stayed on the front porch for a while after Zooming.

bl20130224_Walkabout_123 It was so nice having muddy paws and listening to the wind and my parents talking and laughing that I decided to settle in for a little nap. One of my favorites.

*Yawn!*

Geez, guys. I am so stir-crazy! I can only chase my Froggy-Frog or Moosey-Moose up and down the stairs so many times before it gets booorrrring. This weather is yuck. Not only do I not get to go run around outside, but when I do go to do my (business), I have to hold still while they scrub off the yummy squishy mud from my feet before I come back inside. Like I said..booorrring!

I thought we were going to get some of that cool snow stuff like we had Christmas morning. My parents were SO excited to wake up to find that. We went outside to play in it and mom & dad took some pictures. Why can’t we have more of that? It made the cold seem like fun!

Not to mention I got to practice blending in. That was cool.

See me?

My Best Friend Ellie.

301265_10150395394345135_1615244583_n
Hi Everybody. This is me with Ellie! She is my best friend in the whole world. When I first came to my new home, I didn’t understand people very well and I felt a little lost. Then I met Ellie Dog, and everything was okay. It’s so great that her parents are good friends with my parents because it means I get to see her lots.

She plays just like I do! We roll and chew and jump and sometimes make noise until we just can’t do any more. Then we sleep really hard. Something about all this makes our parents super happy.

315539_10150395394645135_418045648_n

Ellie and I have played together at parks and the beach and at each other’s houses. It’s the best thing ever! This day was at a park nearby where we’re allowed to run without those silly ropes attached. BEST!

I’ll post more pictures of Ellie here over time because they make me happy to look at.

296616_10150395949520135_1454022362_n

My mom says she likes pictures of me where I look kind of silly. I don’t know why – I just think it’s a little embarrassing. But she says I’m the sweetest thing ever, which is probably why I don’t really mind since it makes her smile.

301586_10150395394560135_1701047456_n

Maybe they’ll make you smile, too!

Love,

Sol

Hi There. I’m Sol.

Hi There. I’m Sol.

I love climbing on rocks, smelling things, chasing things that move, and pretty much everything about living in the woods on Catoctin Mountain. Today I also learned that I really love sticks. Chasing them, chewing them, chasing them.

I’m 2 and a half, I think. I don’t know for sure because I was found roaming the streets of Richmond, Virginia and didn’t come to my parents until I was about 6 months old.

Did I mention I love smelling things? Here. Put your nose right there. Closer. If you’re not touching what you’re smelling, it’s not close enough. There you go..you’ll get the hang of it. Smelling is what I’m best at and I can teach you lots if you want.

This is where I’ll show you some of my adventures, so I hope you’ll come visit sometimes. Thanks for saying hi!fbSolPuppy
